Our preparations began 1 year in advance.
- One year before leaving:
- We sold our condo
- Downsized into a 1-bedroom Downtown Cincinnati apartment – one year lease
- 6 months before leaving:
- We signed a retainer with an attorney in Panama City
- Prepared paperwork required to attain Panama’s Pensionado Permanent Visa
- 3 months before leaving:
- Scheduled our trip to Panama City
- We started the process to sell my 2002 Porsche 911 C4S
- Take car pictures
- List on internet sights Cargurus and Autotrader
- 1 month before leaving:
- Started donating furniture, clothing and small appliances
- Moved to Sterling’s & English’s home – what a warm stay we had
- Began packing 4 suitcases and 2 backpacks – needed to add 1 additional carryon
- GULP!!! Transmission seal failing on the Porsche took 3.5 weeks to fix (supply chain issues)
- Began saying goodbye to family and longtime friends – quite difficult for us to do
- 1 day before leaving:
- Showed the car to a potential buyer from Pennsylvania
- Sold the car at asking price
- Checked into hotel by the airport for our 7 AM flight
